'Arranged' Screened at The Community House

The Race Relations & Diversity Task Force in collaboration with WISDOM (Women’s Interfaith Solutions for Dialogue and Outreach in Metro Detroit) invites the public to an evening of film and discussion at The Community House Sept. 14 at 6:30 pm.

The featured film Arranged will be followed by a facilitated discussion by Parvinder Mehta, Instructor in the English Department at Wayne State University. The movie is about a friendship between an Orthodox Jewish woman and a Muslim woman who meet as first year teachers in a public school in Brooklyn. Over the course of the year, they learn that they have much in common, not the least of which is that they are both in arranged marriages. The film deals with the challenges of misconceptions, prejudice, and stereotypes, and highlights the beauty of crossing boundaries to make new friends.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. Cookies and coffee will be served. Reservations are not necessary and there is no charge to attend.
