Girls on the Run Informational Meeting

Girls on the Run is a non-profit prevention program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. The program combines training for a 5K running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts and curriculum-based lessons on themes such as dealing with body image and the media, resisting peer pressure, making healthy decisions and contributing to the community.

Teens meet after school two days a week at the Birmingham Family YMCA with trained and certified coaches.

The 10 week, 20 lesson program begins the week of March 14 and ends the week of May 23. The 5K event will be held Saturday, May 21.
