Birmingham resident Donna Klein sells garments that are hard to find: new old stock shapewear, discontinued colors and styles of modern undergarments.

She started her business by experimenting on E-bay, but now operates her own site, www.SofterSilk.com.

What does your business offer? 

We only sell garments that you cannot find elsewhere: new old stock shapewear, discontinued colors and styles of modern undergarments, and Made in USA sleepwear and garments.

You can enjoy the convenience of shopping online and support a local small business at the same time.

When was the business founded?

2000 originally on eBay, current website in 2011. INTERNET ONLY, no retail location. 

How did your business come to be? 

Experimenting selling on eBay in 1998, gradually began specializing in sleepwear and classic undergarments

Why did you choose the area you did?

Nice niche market, doesn't compete with any local stores. We ship all over the world.
