Brighton Chamber Welcomes Ann Arbor SCORE to Their Building

The Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Ann Arbor Chapter of SCORE is now located in their offices in downtown Brighton. SCORE offers free confidential small business counseling services and provides guidance for issues specific to individual businesses as well as problems and issues common to all businesses from start-ups to mature companies. Also located within the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce offices are Ann Arbor SPARK and the Livingston County Small Business Technology and Development Center, Pam McConeghy, President & CEO of the Chamber states, “The Chamber building has truly become an economic development center in Livingston County”.

The SCORE office in Brighton is headed by John Berkaw, a certified SCORE mentor. SCORE is a national nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of the nation's small businesses. SCORE volunteers are real-world professionals with knowledge who donate thousands of hours to help small businesses succeed. Berkaw has formed several venture capital businesses and an investment banking business in Michigan after beginning his career as a corporate banker with Comerica. All of his businesses were involved in assisting local companies achieve financial success. 

Berkaw and other SCORE mentors will be available for counseling by appointment.  To set up an appointment, contact the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce at 810-227-5086.  The Chamber office is located at a 218 E. Grand River, Brighton, MI.

Since 2000, the Ann Arbor chapter of SCORE has been providing free confidential counseling to entrepreneurs in Washtenaw, Livingston, and Lenawee counties. More than 30 counselors have expertise in many areas including accounting, business structures, finance, marketing, management, intellectual property, and business plans.  Visit SCORE’s local website (www.annarborscore.org) for more information.  

SCORE has been providing free confidential business counseling services since 1964. Its approximately 11,500 volun­teer counselors throughout the country are all experienced business owners or managers who donate their time and expertise as mentors.
