Rogers Invites First Responders to Michigan House for Sept. 11 Ceremony

State Rep. Bill Rogers on Tuesday invited two local first responders to a special Michigan House ceremony honoring the first responders who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, as well as public safety and military personnel serving today.

"Sept. 11, 2001 was a tragic day for every American and this annual ceremony in the Michigan House is a very powerful and meaningful way to remember and honor those who lost their lives," said Rogers, R-Brighton. "Honoring local first responders that stand up for our safety every day gives today extra meaning  as we give thanks to our local heroes who stand up for Michigan and our local communities."

Rogers' guests were Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte and Livingston County Undersheriff Mike Murphy.

"Having Sheriff Bezotte and Undersheriff Murphy stand beside me today was an honor and there is not enough thanks in the world to truly honor the sacrifices they make for our safety in the line of duty on a daily basis," Rogers said.

Names of first responders who have died in the line of duty in the last two years were read during the ceremony. The special ceremony is an annual event in the Michigan House.
