United Way Seeks Volunteers for 5th Annual Community Connect

The Livingston County Homeless Continuum of Care will host this year's Community Connect event at a new location, Parker Middle School, 400 Wright Road, Howell, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Event planners are hoping for record crowds, as this annual community event connects local individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet with information and free services such as health screenings, legal consultation, food, clothing, personal care items, haircuts, housing and utility assistance and more. Lunch and on-site, professional childcare are also provided at no cost. No registration is required to access these services.

The event will require hundreds of community volunteers that day to help guests find the resources they need, keep the facility clean, serve lunch, provide directions, take-down after the event and also set-up on Friday evening. To register as an event volunteer, call Livingston County United Way at 810-494-3000, or visit www.lcunitedway.org for the volunteer registration forms, or email dgehringer@lcunitedway.org by Jan. 16. Confirmation packets and work assignments will be sent prior to the event. Orientation and a tour of the facility will also be provided prior to the event.
