Here are five tidbits of news and information we hope you'll find useful or entertaining.

1. The weather

Today will be sunny and hot, with a high near 101 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 72 degrees.

2. Gasoline prices

Here's a quick survey of the lowest per-gallon prices for regular gasoline in the Brighton area as of Monday night, according to DetroitGasPrices.com via GasBuddy.com:

Brighton Kiwanis presents Terrific Tuesdays for preschool age children through age 7 today at the at 10:30 a.m.

Paddle the Mitten and SUP Michigan will host a 60 minute Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP'ing) class today at the at 4 p.m. The class includes safety, paddling techniques, maneuvering and time to paddle. For ages 12 and above, swimming experience required, PFD's required (please bring your own if you have one), all equipment will be supplied. Class size is limited so pre-register by calling the park office at 810-229-6566.

A Recreation Passport is required for park entry.  The $10 Recreation Passport can be purchased at any Secretary of State office when renewing your license tabs, or at any state park office.
