• Livingston County To Issue Bonds For Public Safety Improvements (whmi.com) — Livingston County commissioners just took a key step toward issuing up to $12.9 million in bonds to upgrade public safety and emergency communications, after warnings from the Brighton Area Fire Authority about degraded radio systems. Sheriff Mike Murphy backed the plan but urged leaders to consider a small countywide millage for long-term technology funding, noting all municipalities rely on these systems. 
• Oakdale glows with giving (sandyjournal.com) — Brighton High School hockey players helped Oakdale Elementary students learn street hockey during a glow-party fundraiser that topped its $15,000 goal. Families enjoyed games, food, and an outdoor movie while local businesses donated treats and auction items, turning the night into a big community celebration that highlighted strong ties between Oakdale and Brighton’s hockey community.
• Michigan House Republicans reject over $600 million in work project spending (lansingcitypulse.com) — State Rep. Ann Bollin of Brighton Township led a House Appropriations Committee vote rejecting about $645 million in previously approved work project spending. Democrats objected to the rushed process and lack of debate, while the decision sends the money back into Michigan’s general fund, potentially affecting projects ranging from public safety to community colleges statewide.
