People With Obama-as-Hitler Signs Spotted Outside Southeastern Michigan Post Offices

Some of their signs call for voters to "Dump Obama" and others picture Obama with a Hitler moustache.

They drew stares, curious people who asked about them and a few others who weren't interested. It's all part of the job for those volunteering outside of the this week.

"Even the people that so-called disagree with us, they don't know what they're disagreeing with," said volunteer Alan Egre. "In a lot of cases when they talk with us and actually discuss what we're representing out here, a lot of them actually do agree with – principally – what we're doing."

The people behind the signs are supporters of the LaRouche PAC and several candidates around the country running for office. One of those candidates includes , who is running against for a spot on the November general election ballot.

According to the group's website, the LaRouche PAC draws a comparison between Obama and Hitler because of what they perceive as Obama's fascism.

"As we speak, Obama is staging his Hitler coup in the form of the fascist Supercongress. Glass-Steagall has now become the only weapon of strategic defense that our nation has to head off this coup. Bankrupt the enemy, remove Obama from office," a passage on the site reads.

The group is named for Lyndon LaRouche. Its main focus is three-fold, explained volunteer Bob Baker. They advocate for a reinstatement of the Glass-Steagall Act, which would keep commercial and investment banks separate; a national bank which would eliminate the need for the federal reserve; and the creation of the North American Water and Power Alliance is also important to the group, which would build a waterway from Alaska through the Plains states to Mexico.

The volunteers agreed that a big hindrance to these changes is President Barack Obama.

"Why do people say they like Obama? Cause they don't like Romney," Egre said. "We say we're not for Romney or Obama. We want a new candidate."

Brighton Patch Facebook followers react to signs

Brighton Patch Facebook followers were mostly appalled at the group's comparison of Obama to Hitler. Mark Newton said he has even spotted them in front of the Brighton Post Office, near his work office. Other commenters mentioned seeing the group in Dexter, Whitmore Lake and in Plymouth as well.

"I don't support Obama, but I also don't support this either," Newton said. "If you don't like Obama wouldn't it be easier to just make sure he is not re-elected in 102 days?"

Another commenter, Teresa Meyers wrote: "Regardless of who you support this photo is wrong. There are better ways to get your message out. But maybe they want this kind of negative attention."

Some others, like Karen Hackney, defended their First Amendment rights: "If they can do this sort of thing to Bush, then they certainly can do it to Obama."
