
With the school year coming to an end in the next few weeks, it's time to start thinking about enrolling kids in summer activities and camps to keep their bodies active and minds engaged.

Name: The Farm Camp
Location: Kensington MetroPark, 2240 W. Buno Road, Milford
Type of camp: Outdoor/Nature

For: Children ages 8-13
When: June 19-22, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Deadline for registration: Registration is open, but limited.
Details: Farm Campers will experience the sights, sounds, and smells of a real, working farm. Campers will be transformed into farmers as they participate in daily farm chores as well as activities like nature hikes, scavenger hunts, craft projects, old fashioned games like sack races and more.

Name: Summer Horse Camp
Location: Brighton Recreation Riding Stable, 6660 Chilson Rd, Howell
Type of camp: Outdoor/Nature
Cost: $300, $25 off for return campers
For: Children ages 9-16
When: June 11-14, July 9-12, Aug. 6-9, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Details: Campers must bring their own lunches and equestrian helmets. Camp will include lessons, trail riding and games on horseback. There will also be scrapbooking, bareback riding, grooming, showmanship classes, relay races, horse trivia games, a horse costume contest and more.

Name: Camp Dio

When: June 18-29, 4-7 p.m.

Details: Students will be separated into four groups according to what grade they have completed in school. Campers will learn acting, singing, dancing, theatre terms and technical aspects of theatre. There will also be one on one coachings and time on stage with their instructor. High School students will also have the rare treat of working with a Broadway actress, Barbara Scanlon, for one afternoon to tweak their performing and auditioning skills! Campers will also work on a short scene and musical theatre performance piece that will
be shared with family and friends at the end of the two week program.

Details: This YMCA-affiliated camp includes a wide variety of both residential camps and day camps, usually not lasting more than a week at a time. The day camps include a specialty category that allows children to have a better in-depth experience in a field they enjoy, including fishing, sports and nature exploration.
