CHELSEA, MI — Michigan actor Jeff Daniels is planning to open a new restaurant in his small hometown.
Daniels will open JD's Stage Bistro in downtown Chelsea next spring. The new restaurant will be located at 117½ S. Main Street, near the iconic Purple Rose Theatre that he founded in 1991.
Daniels is working with Tannin Property Group, a small business in Chelsea since 2005, on the project.

The restaurant will seat up to 100 and feature a wood-fired pizza oven, cocktail bar, patio seating and private event spaces that will cater to "small to mid-sized community gatherings and private celebrations."
Chef Nate Wegryn will work with many local farmers and suppliers to craft a contemporary menu. The restaurant will also feature music, as they hope to "create a world-class music venue that would attract local, regional, and nationally recognized singer-songwriters, while setting a new standard for sound quality."
