Hammond / Lyons Insurance Agency Ltd. has been offering area residents insurance since 1927 and is one of and perhaps the oldest family business in Clawson.

Just the fact that we are a SERVICE oriented business...
What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?
Our actual location... we are kind of hidden behind the Pizza Hut. Fortunately, with the opening of Mojave Cantina and some of the other changes in the 14 Mile Rd / Main Street area, that is changing.When was the business founded?

How did your business come to be?
Harley Hammond opened an insurance agency out of his home on Main Street in Clawson in 1927. My father, Jack Lyons merged his business with Harley in 1979. In 1981, the agency moved to it's present location at 54 W 14 Mile Rd - Annex 4. 30 years later, we're still here... According to the Clawson Historical Society, we are the oldest family owned business in town!
Why did you choose the area you did?
Harley Hammond was a life long Clawson resident and we have stayed here, largely due to the fact that Clawson is representative of the working class, small town that made America great. In addition, we are geographically located in the middle of the metropolitan Detroit area.
