3-Time Clinton Twp. Finalist Awaits Results of 4th Michigan Mathematics Competition
Clinton Township resident and University Liggett School senior, Joe Renzi, recently competed in his fourth Michigan Mathematics Prize Competition.

Placing 14th in the state as a freshman, and improving his score every year since, Joe Renzi is no stranger to the Michigan Mathematics Prize Competition.
Now a senior at University Liggett School, the Clinton Township resident is again a finalist in the annual state competition.
Renzi qualified for the first round of competition based on his scores on a 40-question multiple choice exam taken in October.

From approximately 10,000 participants in Part I, the top 1,000 students are invited to take Part II of the MMPC, according to the MMPC website. During this round of competition, held Dec. 12, students work on just five challenging problems to which they must provide written explanations for their claims and mathematical proofs of their results.
The tests will now be graded by mathematicians from 70 colleges and universities across Michigan.
