The woman told police she was hanging with friends in the Farmbrooke Manor parking lot when a younger man walked up and began insulting her. He refused to stop calling her names after she told him to leave her alone. At one point, the suspect approached her and she put her hands in front of her to prevent him from getting closer and he took a swing at her. Missing the punch, he fell to the ground but got back up to punch her repeatedly in the face, police said.
When the victim's friends tried to pull him off of her, he fled in a pickup. Police who responded to the scene were unable to locate the vehicle.
One-shoe driver slams his head in squad car
A 28-year-old Clinton Township man was arrested in the early Sunday morning hours after a bizarre third-offense of operating while impaired incident that turned aggressive, according to a police report.Â
At approximately 4:50 a.m., witnesses reported the man revving his engine in the parking lot in front of the 43000 block of Carlyle Place. He then hit and knocked down part of a vinyl fence, police said.
When an officer arrived, the suspect refused to cooperate in field sobriety tests and was then taken to a nearby hospital for a blood draw. During that process and booking, the man grew combative with police and medical staff. In the squad car, he slammed his head against the Plexiglas partition several times, requiring him to be placed in a prisoner restraint chair. While in the chair, he freed his right hand and broke the plastic armrest before he was restrained again, police said.
