Invention Takes A Bite Out Of Lawn Work
Clinton Township man's "Shark Tooth Edger" attaches to a standard walk-behind lawn mower.
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI β The inventive spirit isnβt dead in America. Clinton Township resident Thomas Francis provides a living example with his βShark Tooth Edger,β a lawn mower attachment that makes having to own a separate machine for edging a thing of the past, according to a C & G Newspapers report.
βThis is in the $65 bracket because it makes sense,β Francis said. βIt works extremely well. β¦ With the know-how we have in this country, we can put a weed wacker on the side of (a lawnmower), we can put an edger like I did, and you could do all jobs with one piece of equipment. And you wouldnβt have a packed garage.β
βA deal was in place with an unspecified manufacturer. When βday zeroβ came around, the manufacturer offered him $2 million for the idea. Francis told them that wasnβt the deal, as there was an initially agreed upon percentage. When he was offered $3 million, he again said that wasnβt the deal.β
