Kuwait Soldiers Send L'Anse Students Surprise Note

The soldiers sent a surprise note to students to thank them for care packages the students put together for comfort.

From L'Anse Creuse Public Schools: L'Anse Creuse Middle School North students recently received a surprise note from soldiers in Kuwait. Here is that letter in its entirety:

Thank you from all the Soldiers of the 29th Infantry Division at Camp Arifjan Kuwait To the students of Mrs. Terry Bond, My name is Major James Costigan. On behalf of the 29th Infantry Division, Task Force Spartan Shield, and all the Soldiers throughout the Gulf Coast who received your thoughtful care packages, I want to say thank you.

We are thankful for a few reasons. First, having wonderful citizens thinking about us over here and taking time out of their day to put together packages that make our lives a little easier. Your packages also remind us why we get so excited to come back home and be with our families. We all could feel the love and care that was put into each and every one of those gifts.

Second, your contributions to the care packages were some of the best items you could have picked out for our soldiers. We have a few teams up in Iraq right now, and life in Iraq is like living in the wild west of old America. Have soap, shampoo, or even some treats to snack on go a long way in helping our Soldiers stay focused, and when our Soldiers are focused, they are staying safe.

We wanted to get some pictures of our men and women opening up your packages up there, but unfortunately a lot of the areas won’t allow us to carry cameras for security reasons. The pictures in this message though are from Soldiers enjoying your hard work here in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Not pictured in this message (but hopefully it will be in a follow up message) is a shelf of all the goods you sent us. Soldiers can come and pull from that shelf.

Everytime I talk to a Soldier who pulls from that shelf they talk about how great it is to have great people back at home taking care of us all the way over here. I want to say thank you again. All of the “Fighting 29th” Soldiers (and myself) are so grateful for what you did.
