Macomb County Deputies Use K-9 To Nab Thief
Macomb County Sheriff's deputies were able to arrest a 28-year-old alleged thief with the help of a K-9.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI β A 28-year-old man was arrested for first degree home invasion Thursday after Macomb County Sheriffβs deputies tracked him to the backyard of a Macomb Township home. Daniel Soper was seen running through backyards in the area of Aspen Drive and Winter Park Drive shortly before 6 a.m and taken into custody without incident.
Soper is currently being held in the county jail on a $10,000 bond, according to the Macomb County Sheriffβs Office. He was arraigned Friday on charges of first degree home invasion, larceny of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and breaking and entering a motor vehicle. A preliminary examination is scheduled for May 4 at 41-A District Court in Shelby Township.
At approximately 5:15 am Thursday, Macomb County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the 15000 block of Aspen Drive on the report of a vehicle break-in. As deputies were speaking to the victim, they were notified of several more vehicle break-ins reports in the same area of Tilch Road between Hall Road and 21 Mile Road. Deputies responded to four complaints in total.

During one of the vehicle break-ins, the county sheriffβs office said a garage door opener was used to gain entry to a second victimβs garage. Several item,s including knives, tools, and a flashlight, were stolen.
Deputies then canvassed the area and located several more vehicles in the vicinity with open doors and trunks.
A Macomb County Sheriffβs Office K-9 Deputy arrived in the area to assist with a track. This track led to Soper, who was stopped by deputies and questioned. Reports said Soper was unable to provide a clear answer and was found in possession of items stolen from several of the vehicles reported as being broken into. One of the stolen and recovered items was a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
The Macomb County Sheriffβs Office is continuing to investigate the break-ins. Deputies requests that anyone with further information, including video or found property, contact the Detective Bureau at 586-307-9358.
