Macomb County Files To Remove Clerk Karen Spranger
Macomb County says Spranger lied about her residency. A St. Clair County Circuit Court judge will decide.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Macomb County officials’ efforts to remove Clerk Karen Spranger from office intensified Tuesday as a four-page counterclaim was filed in St. Clair County Circuit. The filing argues that Spranger should be removed from office because she lied about her residency on an election affidavit, according to a Macomb Daily report.
“The county also seeks a quick resolution “in light of the serious nature of these issues,” asking the court “to expedite all scheduling matters” and conduct a show-cause hearing following a 60-day discovery period.”
“The case was removed to St. Clair County Circuit Court after 14 Macomb County circuit judges disqualified themselves. The judges would appoint Spranger’s replacement if she is removed.”
