MDOT Seeks Community Input on New Crosswalks, 2nd Right-Turn Lane at Gratiot and Quinn

Clinton Township residents are invited to a public meeting Nov. 1 from 4-6 p.m. to discuss several projects proposed for the South Gratiot corridor.

Community members are invited to join Michigan Department of Transportation officials next week to discuss several projects proposed for the South Gratiot corridor in Clinton Towship.

These projects include the installation of two High-intensity Activated crossWalK (HAWK) pedestrian crossings on Gratiot between Quinn Road and 15 Mile Road and construction of a second right-turn lane at Gratiot and Quinn Road.

HAWK pedestrian crossings use lights suspended over a crosswalk to stop road traffic. The lights are activated by a push-button on the ground and flash yellow to warn drivers that they should begin to slow, remain a steady yellow to alert drivers they should prepare to stop and finally turn red to stop traffic entirely.
