Students in the Pankow Performing Arts Department will bring the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Carousel to the stage this weekend.

The show will run Nov. 2 and 3 at 7 p.m., with a special free matinee performance for senior citizens on Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. at the John R. Armstrong Performing Arts Center in Clinton Township.

The musical is set in a small New England town and revolves around carousel worker Billy Bigelow, whose romance with millworker Julie Jordan results in both of them losing their jobs. Billy attempts a robbery to provide for Julie and their unborn child, but it goes wrong and he is killed. Later, he is given the chance to return to earth and make things right for his daughter.
