LensCrafters Thieves Steal $35,000 in Eyewear; Shoplifters Target Dog Treats, Video Games

Traveling shoplifters target LensCrafters stores in two states
On Oct. 14, between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., two men stole an estimated $35,000 worth of eyewear from LensCrafters' Clinton Township location, according to police.
The men are described as being Hispanic, with one in his early 30s and the other appearing slightly older, according to the police report.

Store management told police these men are suspects in similar thefts reported at other LensCrafters stores in Michigan and Ohio.

Barefoot shoplifter takes off with shoes, watch from Kmart
Police believe they have identified the man Kmart personnel say stole a pair of menβs shoes and a watch from the Garfield store on Oct. 16.
The 47-year-old suspect entered the store barefoot at approximately 3:25 p.m. While in the store he put on a pair of shoes and a menβs watch, which he removed from the packaging, according to the police report.
The man left the store without attempting to pay for the shoes or watch. Store personnel were able to get the manβs license plate number and police have identified a possible suspect, according to the report.Β
Man stopped at Meijer with stolen dog treats in his pants
On Oct. 14, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a 56-year-old man was stopped at the Groesbeck Meijer as he attempted to leave the store without paying for the bag of dog treats he had stuffed down the front of his pants, according to the police report.
The man was issued a citation and released.
Suspect caught shoplifting video games at Walmart
On Oct. 15, at approximately 2:23 p.m., a 37-year-old woman was issued a citation for shoplifting at the Hall Road Walmart.
Employees saw the woman conceal multiple video games in her purse while in the store. Although she paid for some merchandise, she did not attempt to pay for the games at checkout, according to the police report.
The woman was stopped by store personnel and the games recovered. A black T-shirt, three iPod cases and another game were also found in the suspectβs purse, police say.
Because the woman had no previous record of retail fraud, she was issued a citation and released, according to the police report.
