Would-be Grinch Caught With Hand in Salvation Army Donation Jar

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man accused of stealing a Salvation Army donation can from inside a Clinton Township 7-Eleven.
Employees at the 20690 15 Mile Rd. location told police the man ran into the store, grabbed the can off a counter and ran out shortly before noon Dec. 4.
A witness followed the man to a lot behind Heathmore Apartments and called police.

The suspect dropped the can and ran when police arrived, but officers were able to locate him a short distance away, at which time he confessed to the theft, according to police.
The suspect was arrested for larceny from a building, a four-year felony, according to police.
