5 From Metro Detroit Arrested In Terrorist Plot Link To ISIS Extremism​: Report ​

Officials said there are no further threats to the public.​

DEARBORN, MI — Five people from Dearborn and Inkster were arrested Friday morning in connection with a possible terrorist plot link to ISIS extremism, according to an NBC News report.

Federal officials told the news station the group discussed carrying out an attack around Halloween, though it was unclear what, if any targets, were decided. Investigators said the group did have access to guns, and were also looking into whether the group was self-radicalized, according to the report.

FBI agents were seen removing a computer and other items from a home on Horger Street in Dearborn, according to Fox 2 Detroit.

Agents were also present at a storage facility located on Michigan Avenue in Inkster, police confirmed.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer released a statement on Friday regarding the arrests.

"This morning, I was briefed by Director Patel on the thwarted potential terrorist attack in our state. As details continue to develop, I am grateful for the swift action of the FBI and MSP protecting Michiganders," Whiter said.
