Armed Robbers On The Run After Striking A Jewelry Store

Police say that three suspects pretended to be browsing then suddenly whipped out a gun and smashed display cases.

DEARBORN, MI Armed robbers are on the run after striking a Dearborn jewelry store, according to a press release.

The hold-up occurred on Dec. 21 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Three armed subjects walked into a jewelry store in the area of Warren Ave. near Schaefer and pretended to browse when one suspect suddenly took out a handgun and struck the business owner with it. No shots were fired.

The suspects smashed display cases then took off with numerous items. They hopped into an older model red Chevrolet Cavalier convertible, possibly a 1995 to 2002 model year.

The business owner is being treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

“Crimes of this nature are particularly disturbing because the suspects showed no regard for the safety of the employee," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement. "Crimes like this will not be tolerated. We are urging the public to come forward with information regarding this incident.”
