Bocci, Cardio Tennis: 5 Ways to Stay Fit at Dearborn Homecoming Festival
Here's a look at some fun activities taking place at the 34th annual summer festival in Dearborn.

The 34th annual Dearborn Homecoming festival takes place today through Sunday.
That means it's time for funnel cakes, gigantic onion blossoms, snow cones and other fun carnival foods.
To help work off those extra calories, here's a look at five fun ways to stay fit this weekend.
1. Cardio Tennis
The Dearborn Community Tennis Association will offer adult cardio tennis from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday on the tennis courts at Ford Field Park.
Cardio tennis combines tennis drills, an aerobic workout routine and music, and it’s designed to burn more calories than playing a tennis match. Participants must bring their own rackets.
2. Bocci Tournament
The Italian American Fraternal Club will host a bocci tournament on Saturday at 4 p.m. Registration for the tournament will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday. The object of the game is to get as many of your bocci (bigger, weighted balls) as close to the pallino (smaller target ball) as possible. If you are successful in getting the bocci closer to the pallino than your opponent, you will be awarded points. Registration will be held at the large pavilion north of the Rouge River at Ford Field Park.
3. Zumba
A Zumba class for adults will be offered from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday on Stage B. Angela Donnellon, a certified instructor at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, will lead the Zumba class, which will feature dance-like moves to the beat of Latin music.
4. Children's sack race
Free children’s games will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, sponsored by Village Community Credit Union. To see a complete list of free events, visit www.cityofdearborn.org.
5. Dance to the sounds of Blues Traveler
Blues Traveler, the band known for its Top 40 hits with the catchy, harmonica-driven pop songs “Run-Around” and “Hook,” will take the spotlight at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, on the Main Stage. Performing Sunday at 8:30 p.m. on the Main Stage is Papa Doo Run Run, a Beach Boys tribute band.
