Dearborn City Offices Closing For Emergency Preparedness Training
The city will be conducting training on how best to respond during crisis situations, like those involving an active shooter.

DEARBORN, MI — City officials are reminding Dearborn residents that the Dearborn Administrative Center (DAC), which houses the main government offices of the City of Dearborn, will be closed to the public from 1 – 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 for an emergency preparedness exercise.
The city will be conducting training for DAC employees regarding how best to respond during crisis situations, like those involving an active shooter. This training is also designed so that employees can assist residents in case an unexpected incident occurs while the public is inside the building.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead if they need to conduct any city business, as the doors to the DAC will close at 1 p.m. on Nov. 20. All customers inside the building must conclude their business by 2 p.m. to allow the training to begin
The departments taking part in the training and therefore unreachable in person or by phone are the City Clerk’s Office, the City Council Office, Assessment, Property Maintenance and Development Services, Mayor’s Office, Public Information, Legal, Human Resources, Engineering, and Finance and Treasury.

The fact that a training exercise is being presented at the DAC is not an indication that any unique threat exists for city employees or members of the public while in the municipal building.
Training exercises are planned at other city facilities in the future, city officials said.
