Dearborn Education Foundation Raises $43K For Local Schools

A local group raised $43,000 for the students and teachers of Dearborn Schools at its annual Mardi Gras fundraiser.​

The event was held on Feb. 18 at 18900 Michigan Ave. (Fairlane Town Center) where guests enjoyed music, dancing, a 360 photo booth, raffles and a silent auction.

DEARBORN, MI — The Dearborn Education Foundation raised $43,000 for the students and teachers of Dearborn Schools at its annual Mardi Gras fundraiser.

"We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, and the community for helping us to raise funds that support our teachers and students," Dearborn Education Foundation Executive Director Chastity Townsend told Patch.

The event was held on Feb. 18 at 18900 Michigan Ave. (Fairlane Town Center) where guests enjoyed music, dancing, a 360 photo booth, raffles and a silent auction. Guests also voted for their favorite schools in the dubloon contest. The winners were Duvall Elementary, O.L. Smith Middle School and Edsel Ford High School.

Southwest Foodservice Excellence donated and prepared food for the event.

"SFE is proud to support the Dearborn Education Foundation all year long in their efforts to provide an exceptional learning experience for Dearborn students. As the child nutrition partner for Dearborn Public Schools, SFE was excited to showcase our culinary talent, creating an entirely halal, Cajun-inspired menu in celebration of Mardi Gras," the group said.
