Dearborn Finance Department Receives Excellence Award
The award recognizes transparency in government accounting and financial reporting.

For the 14th year in a row, the city of Dearborn’s finance department has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, according to the GFOA.

Recipients are judged on their comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
The city’s CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motive potential users to read the report.

“This recognition of our financial reporting shows that the city of Dearborn stays true to its mission statement, which emphasizes earning the public’s trust every day,” said Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr.
“We’re pleased to merit this high-level acknowledgement from the GFOA once again, and it is a reflection of the professionalism of our finance department. But the real significance is that this information is readily available for our residents to understand how their tax dollars are spent.”
