Donate Backpacks, School Supplies At Zeal Credit Union
Help the region's less fortunate families gear up for the upcoming school year with this annual drive.

METRO DETROIT — Summer break may be in full swing, but the school year is right around the corner and for the less fortunate families who struggle to get proper school supplies, it can be a stressful time. Zeal Credit Union is hosting a backpack and school supply drive to help those students in need. They are collecting new backpacks and classroom supplies, along with monetary donations, at each of the credit union’s 13 metro Detroit branch offices.
“This is our 10th year to collect school supplies to help at-risk and homeless children enjoy a great start to the school year,” said Tiffany Sweet, youth and community development coordinator for Zeal Credit Union. “Zeal employees also get involved by donating supplies and stuffing grade-specific backpacks.”
This year’s Backpack and School Supply Drive runs through Friday, August 3. Donations are then distributed by Operation Backpack to needy students throughout Michigan.
“Our goal is to donate 75 fully stuffed backpacks,” Sweet added. “With everyone’s help, we hope to exceed that.”
