Ford Moves Headquarters, Will Demolish Former Iconic Site
Officials are planning to open the 2.1 million square foot building in November.

DEARBORN, MI — Ford Motor Company announced Monday that it will demolish its iconic Dearborn headquarters site as it prepares to move into a new building.
The automaker will relocate its headquarters to the new Henry Ford II World Center, described as an "upgraded and reimagined Dearborn product development campus."
Crews are wrapping up construction of the new headquarters building, which sits on Oakwood Boulevard across from the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. Officials are planning to open the 2.1 million square foot building in November, although some work will continue into 2027.

When the building is fully completed, officials said up to 4,000 people will be able to work from the new headquarters.
Additionally, officials said 14,000 employees will be within a 15-minute walk from the new world headquarters building. It will also be open for public tours.

Officials said the new building will be a "catalyst for innovation."
"Our new headquarters is designed to make that happen, bringing thousands of our engineering, design, and technology team members together in one collaborative space – twice the size of our current HQ, and built to accommodate double the employees – to innovate and solve problems faster than ever before," Chairman Bill Ford and CEO Jim Farley said.
The Glass House, which sits along Michigan Avenue in Dearborn, served as Ford's headquarters for nearly 70 years. Crews will ultimately demolish it over 18 months once the transition is done.
"The future of our industry demands a different kind of space – one that is more connected, more flexible, and built for the speed of a technology – and software-driven company," Ford and Farley said.
Ford officials said they are working with the city to determine how to best redevelop the Glass House site for the community. Officials plan to release more information about those plans at a later date.
