I-75 Will Be Closed For Two Years To Fix Rouge River Bridge
The two year project starts on Feb. 4, 2017.

WAYNE COUNTY, MI — Over 37 million vehicles travel along the Rouge River Bridge every year, zipping between Detroit and Downriver communities or Canada. It's no wonder why at nearly 50 years old, the Rouge River Bridge needs some serious T-L-C. However, the tender loving bridge care will take two years and shut down I-75 in the area beginning on Feb. 4, 2017, according to media reports.
The Michigan Department of Transportation reports that the Rouge River Bridge needs a new bridge deck. A rather big undertaking, as the Rouge River Bridge is the largest bridge in Michigan, measuring 1.63 miles.
Stage I of the project gets going on Feb. 4, 2017. Southbound I-75 traffic will be detoured as crews will get to work on the southbound bridge deck.
