I Can Do What at Dearborn Public Library?

Here are 5 things you may or may not know about your library.

Libraries are often overlooked as places that can provide free or low-cost entertainment in the community. Here are five things you may, or may not, know about the Dearborn Public Library.

1. Have an outdoor adventure.

Did you know you can check out free one-day passes to any state park, state forest campground or pathway at the Dearborn Public Library? These passes are valid for seven days from checkout and can be used all over the state. This program runs through Oct. 1.

2. Museums offer free or discounted admission.

Parks and campgrounds not your thing? You can use your library card to print a pass, at your home or at the library, to one of 60 participating museums across the state. The passes will give you either complimentary or reduced admission. Popular museums include Cranbrook Art Museum, the Holocaust Memorial Center and the Detroit Institute of Arts.

3. Check out the movie selection.

Don't want to spend $10 going to a movie or a few dollars renting from Redbox? Check out the movie selection. You might be surprised to see many new releases and classic favorites.

4. Download an e-book.

Did you know that you can now rent e-books for your tablet through the library? Dearborn Public Library has extensive e-book catalogs. You can search book titles and more on their website.

5. Sign up for the library's newsletter

Whether you want to join a book club, or watch the latest summer blockbusters, the library has a calendar full of events for all ages. Check out what they have to offer and join in the fun. You can sign up for the library's monthly e-newsletter for more information on programs. Visit http://dearbornlibrary.org/.
