Man Arrested After Threatening Muslim Holiday Marchers In Dearborn: Police
Police said the man was arrested within hours after the threats were made.

DEARBORN, MI — A 27-year-old Garden City man was arrested Saturday after threatening people who were attending a march for justice in Dearborn, according to police.
Police said those participating in the march were commemorating Ashura in Dearborn, an event that brings together thousands of people in peaceful observance. The man was arrested within hours after the threats were made, according to police.
Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud and Police Chief Issa Shahin released the following joint statement in connection with the arrest:

"When someone threatens violence against our community, we will act swiftly and decisively. There is zero tolerance for threats of this nature, and anyone who attempts to sow fear or division will be held fully accountable. The safety and unity of our community will always come first."
Investigators were looking further into the threats.

Police said they will continue to monitor social media and other platforms for threats of violence.
Ashura honors Imam Hussain, a prominent figure in Islam. Dearborn's Karbalaa Islamic Educational Center organized the march, which drew 40,000 people, making it the largest in its history, according to the organization.
