National Night Out, Plus More Events for the Week Ahead in Dearborn
Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your week in Dearborn.

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in the Dearborn area to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch Calendar of Events.
1. City Primary Election
The Dearborn city primary election will take place on Tuesday. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. To find out where your precinct is located, or to view a sample ballot, visit the Michigan Secretary of State website.
2. Jazz on the Avenue
This week's concert features Walter White and the Small, Medium & Large Band. The concert takes place Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., free of charge and open to the public. Concerts take place at Dearborn City Hall Park, 13615 Michigan Ave.
3. Bariatric Educational Seminar
Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center will host Dr. Daniel Bacal, who will talk about individualized treatment alternatives designed to promote long-term weight loss for individuals who are 100 or more pounds overweight or have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or more and have high blood pressure, diabetes, or sleep apnea. The presentation takes place Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., 18101 Oakwood Blvd.
4. National Night Out
The Dearborn Police Department will participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m.
This year’s event will be held in the police department’s east parking lot, and will include free hot dogs, drinks and ice cream; a bounce house for children; free throw basketball contests with prizes; and the Dearborn Fire Department’s newest fire truck.
5. Supervised Summer Playground Program Ends
Friday is the last day for the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department's summer playground program. To view a list of participating parks, visit the city of Dearborn's website.
