New Exhibit In Dearborn Celebrates Arab American Artists

The new exhibit opens Sept. 16 in the Padzieski Art Gallery​ at the Dearborn Ford Community and Performing Arts Center​.

DEARBORN, MI — A new exhibit in Dearborn celebrates Arab American artists.

The new exhibit, titled "For the Love of Humanity," will showcase artwork from ten distinct and diverse artists in the Padzieski Art Gallery at the Dearborn Ford Community and Performing Arts Center from Sept. 16 through Oct. 28.

Participating artists include Dr. Anita Bates, Ilham Badreddine Mahfouz, Barbara Melnik Carson, Reem Taki, Graciela Bustos, Sunshine Durant, Haydar Alyassiry, Mohamed Fradi, Hussein Alshikakai, and Jean-Paul Aboudid.

Opportunities for the community to interact with artists will take place on the following dates:

  • Saturday, Sept. 23 from 2-4 p.m. with artist Haydar Alyassiry for a portrait workshop in the gallery
  • Saturday, Oct. 28 from 1-3 p.m. to join the exhibiting artists present to discuss their work. The exhibit will close with a lecture by Dr. Anita Bates at 5 p.m.

Regular gallery hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12-6 p.m. and Saturday from 12-4 p.m. Entrance into the gallery is free.
