• Detroit Free Press 2025 photos of the year (freep.com subscription) — A Dearborn mother’s emotional moment gaining U.S. citizenship in Detroit is one of many powerful scenes captured in the Free Press’ 2025 photo collection, which also highlights protests, floods, community events, and everyday life across Michigan. The images showcase neighbors from Dearborn and nearby cities navigating celebration, hardship, and civic engagement throughout the year.

• University Staff United pickets outside Winter Commencement (michigandaily.com) — University of Michigan staff are protesting a proposed contract that would give only 1% annual raises to employees on the Dearborn and Flint campuses, well below recent inflation. Union members say the university is underpaying non-supervisory staff while boosting spending on policing and surveillance. Dearborn campus workers are pushing for raises they say would provide living wages and reflect their role in supporting students.
