ACCESS to distribute 500 food boxes to Metro Detroit residents next week (clickondetroit.com) — Dearborn residents in need can pick up free food boxes from ACCESS at its Maple Street center on Thursday, Dec. 18, starting at 2 p.m. The Dearborn nonprofit has prepared 500 boxes with halal poultry, bread, and pantry staples for drive-up distribution until supplies run out.

Former Benedictine monk now of Fort Myers transcribed from memory the Gregorian chants (wgcu.org) — Dearborn readers may remember Father Arnold D’Achille, who led a local Catholic congregation for decades before retiring to Florida, where he now lives at 92. Drawing on years in a Benedictine monastery, he has painstakingly transcribed Gregorian chants from memory and reflects on why this sacred music still moves modern audiences so deeply.

Unity Christian's DeVries voted top player from MHSAA state finals following standout performance (mlive.com) — Dearborn gets a shoutout in the Division 4 football state finals, where Dearborn Divine Child edged Hudsonville Unity Christian 23-22 at Ford Field. Unity’s Jared DeVries still earned top player honors after rushing for two touchdowns and leading his team in tackles in the narrow championship loss.

AAA projecting record-breaking travel for December 20th through January 1st (whtc.com) — Holiday travel from Dearborn and across Michigan is expected to hit record levels between December 20 and January 1, with 3.9 million state residents on the move. AAA says most Michiganders will drive, gas prices are lower than last year, and Florida, California, Hawaii and Mexican beach spots top travelers’ destination lists.
