Grab our hiking boots! The River Rouge Gateway Trail Extension Is Open

DEARBORN, MI — Get out your hiking boots! The Rouge River Gateway Trail extension (technically 1/3 of a mile longer) is officially open for walkers, runners and bicyclists to hit the paved path along Ford Field Park, Hines Park, natural areas and the campuses of the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Henry Ford College, according to a news release.

The trail system connects with the bike path on Edward Hines Park, north of Ford Road, and goes on to Northville for 19 miles. The trail extension was generously paid for by a grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, a grant from Michigan Department of Transportation, and city contributions.

The route take you through areas including the Henry Ford Estate, the Environmental Interpretive Center and a 300-acre mixed-habitat Environmental Study Area. See you on the trail!
