Taco Bell Employee Robbed at Gunpoint for Cell Phone

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

DEARBORN — A 20-year-old Detroit woman claims three black men stole her cell phone after threatening to shoot her while she was walking home from the Taco Bell restaurant at 8956 Warren Ave. on Aug. 9.

According to police reports, the woman told officers that she was approached by the three men in a silver Ford Taurus around 4:21 a.m. near Gould Street. The woman said a backseat passenger unrolled his window and told her "come here, or I'm going to start spraying." At that point, the woman said she saw a gun and heard a trigger click.

The woman walked over to the car, and the backseat passenger reached into the woman's pocket and removed her cell phone and a $5 bill before the Taurus sped northbound on Wyoming Street.

When police asked for a description of the men, the woman could not provide any details. She also could not describe the make or model of the gun. Upon questioning the woman, police said she was uncooperative and told officers that she did not call 911 after the robbery because a driver stopped and informed her that a police officer was near the area of Wyoming Street.

The woman, however, decided to walk back to Taco Bell and walk home with a co-worker before calling police.

A search of the surrounding area for the suspects' vehicle was unsuccessful.
