Witness Helps Dearborn Police Bust Man in Air Compressor Theft

A quick-thinking witness alerted Dearborn police of the crime in progress.

DEARBORN, MI A quick-thinking witness helped the Dearborn Police bust a man who stole an air compressor from a backyard.

At approximately 4:45 p.m on Nov. 11, officers responded to the area of Lanson and Charles Streets on a report of a garage bin being broken into. A witness had tipped off police and reportedly watched two men walk into a home's backyard then leave hauling away an air compressor.

Police located the suspect's vehicle, thanks to the witness' description, and the occupants of the vehicle were arrested. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office charged 36-year-old Jason Walter Wilson, of Detroit, with Breaking and Entering and being a Habitual Offender. Wilson was arraigned in the 19th District Court and bond was set at $25,000. If Wilson posts bond, he will be required to wear a GPS tether. The other two suspects were released pending the investigation.
