Over 400 books have been given away and nearly 1,000 people have attended Cromaine Library’s Big Read 2013!  And there are still 2 full weeks of Big Read events to enjoy!

Poe’s Drinking, Poe’s Death, Wednesday, April 17 at 6:30 pm, Cromaine Library Village location – registration required at www.cromaine.org

Drink, drugs and death are the three areas of Poe's legacy that have engendered the greatest mythologization, speculation, and mystery.  This lecture explores these areas of his life and how we have thought about them in 150 years since his death. One of the world's best-known experts on Poe, Michigan State University Professor Stephen Rachman will be our guest speaker. Register - Village.

Hartland Players Present “Edgar Allan Poe,” Friday, April 19 at 7:00 pm. Live, Readers Theater at the Hartland Music Hall

Enjoy an evening of tales from the master of macabre – Edgar Allan Poe. A Readers’ Theater production featuring stories and poems of Poe's most famous work read by The Hartland Players. Donations will be accepted and will go toward The Hartland Player building fund. Drop-in - Hartland Music Hall.

Victorian Duct tape Edition Fashion Show, Saturday, April 20 at 10:00 am

View the Victorian inspired duct tape designs created for Cromaine's duct tape edition fashion show. Three prizes awarded for winning designs. Village Community Room. 

“Haunted by Poe” with Psychic Kristy Robinett, Monday, April 22 at 6:30 pm

After years of fascination and research into the life of Edgar Allan Poe, Kristy Robinett has gathered together her exciting finds on EAP for the novel “Haunted by Poe.” Register - Village.

Poe and the Pseudo-Documentary, Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30 pm – This event will take place at our Crossroads Branch.

Many of Poe's most fascinating works were hoaxes, attempts to present a fictional premise as fact. This lecture will discuss the ways in which Poe's writings continually engaged with the problem of real and the unreal and explain what Poe has to teach us still in our own age of "reality"-TV. One of the world's best-known experts on Poe,Michigan State University Professor Stephen Rachman will be our guest speaker. Register - Crossroads.

“Raven” Film Event at Hartland Music Hall, Thursday, April 25 at 7:00 pm

John Cusack portrays an edgy Edgar Allan Poe on the trail of a serial killer working from Poe’s own macabre stories in this 2012 adult thriller. Register - Hartland Music Hall.

An Enchanting Evening with Edgar Allan Poe, Monday, April 29 at 7:00 pm
