Hoarder Patrol Will Help You Downsize and Organize

Learn more about this Hartland-based business in this week's Small Business Shout Out.

Lyliss Mann, Co-Owner of Hoarder Patrol, said she started her business in Janurary 2013 after helping a friend clean out her mother's home and setting up an estate sale.

"She was quite the collector and saved everything. We spent months cleaning out the house, sorting through everything and washing all the items that were going into the estate sale. We also set up everything in the house for the sale and held a very successful one. We both decided that this was something we were good at, enjoyed and saw the need for people who might need help with an estate," she said.

Recently, Mann submitted information about the business to Patch. If you have a business and want to participate in Patch's Small Business Shout Out you can fill out the form here.

How did your business come to be?: My good friend and I had to clean out her mom's house last summer when her mom passed away. She was quite the collector and saved everything. We spent months cleaning out the house, sorting through everything and washing all the items that were going into the estate sale. We also set up everything in the house for the sale and held a very successful one. We both decided that this was something we were good at, enjoyed and saw the need for people who might need help with an estate. We also just finished a house this winter for just removing a lot of junk and sorting through things to be sold at a later date.

What kind of services do you offer?: We offer three different services in the estate business. Plan A sorting all contents of home, separate rubbish from saleable merchandise.Job is complete when all contents have been examined, sorted, boxed or put into rubbish piles. Plan B includes all of Plan A but includes loading a dumpster with rubbish, light cleaning of home and washing saleable items. What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?: Since we are a new company, no one has any idea what it is. But my partner knows everything there is to know about antiques. She can look at something and knows what it is. Because of that, we guarantee to sell any merchandise at a sale for the best and most fair price available for our clients.

What do you want your business to be best known for?: That we are here to make your life easier! We are honest, hardworking, reliable and mature. We have the knowledge and know-how to determine treasures, antiques and collectibles from junk. Very reasonable rates. We can do whatever you need.

What's your most popular product or service?: That is yet to be determined. I would think we can provide peace of mind to a sometimes overwhelming situation.

When was the business founded?: January 2013. Got the actual DBA in early April of this year. It is for anyone who might be downsizing, has a house full of stuff or has a family member with a house full of stuff. To help keep your life in balance.

Why did you choose to locate to Hartland?: I have lived here for 30 years, in the county for 38 years. I love it here. Our business not only can be done in this area, but any area within reasonable distance.
