- A plan is being proposed in downtown Lansing to build an apartment complex on South Grand Avenue hopefully assisting the homeless in the area. It is estimated that the apartment complex would cost $22.5 million to construct but location wise it would be right across the street from the CATA bus station and a large retail space. This project would take over the east side of the 400 block on South Grand Avenue and most of the apartments would be priced to cater to low-income tenants. (WILX)
- If you know a teen looking to make extra money this summer and get a foot into the workforce you should direct them to Lansing Parks and Recreation as they are looking to hire teens for the summer. There are several different jobs the department is offering for teens as early as 16 years old, from camp counselor to lifeguard, to even a baseball umpire, tons of different opportunities to get into the workforce and make some extra cash. If you think you are or know a great candidate for the position you can apply online and the department will reach out for a quick interview and you can go from there! (FOX 47 News)
- This past Thursday a high school student at Waverly High School was taken into custody for allegedly bringing an airsoft gun to school. The gun was discovered when the student showed it to another student and that student reported it to the school staff. When the school resource officer attempted to make contact with the student he fled from the school, he was later tracked down by Eaton County deputies, and the airsoft gun was discovered. As a minor, he is being held at the Eaton County Youth Facility and it is unclear if he will be formally charged or not. (MLive.com)
