- Former Michigan State Trooper Caleb Starr is set to be honored in Lansing with a bill to rename a section of a Lansing-area highway after he died in July 2020. House bill 4689 made it through committee on Tuesday, Jun. 6, and would rename U.S. 127 between Kipp Road and Interstate 96 as “Trooper Starr Memorial Highway.” Trooper Starr died after a driver crossed the center line and crashed into his cruiser. The bill will now go to a vote with the House of Representatives. (WKZO)
- Anke Grace is looking forward to opening her own German restaurant inside the Knapps Centre in 2024. Grace came to America from Germany in 2015, a move that took her from a restaurant owner to a factory worker. However, she wanted to get back into the restaurant industry, and she worked with Julie Reinhardt and Downtown Lansing Inc. to build her brand at a less risky pace. Now, Grace is gearing up for their family business to provide German cuisine to the city of Lansing. - Michigan State University medical student Tamarandobra Ogeh will have an opportunity to represent her school this upcoming football season when she spends a month with the Detroit Lions' team physicians as part of her medical clinical rotation. The National Football League is working to diversify the league's medical field with its Diversity in Sports Medicine program. Ogeh was a stellar high school and college rugby athlete, and she is excited to bring her experience with athletics to the Lions. (WILX)
