Habitat Capital Region, State Farm Partner to Support New Homebuyers
Organizations teaming up to address Tri-County affordable housing crisis

Habitat for Humanity Capital Region has received a $6,000 grant from State Farm to support first-time homebuyers in the Habitat for Humanity program. State Farm supports Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the country, each of which is responsible for raising the funds necessary to support their operations. The support of corporate partners is a significant means of funding to address the affordable housing crisis nationwide.
“With partners like State Farm, we are building our communities one home at a time,” said Brent Taylor, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Capital Region. “This grant will help move first-time homebuyers one step closer to the stability and security that homeownership provides.”
Through their homeownership and critical home repair programs, Habitat for Humanity Capital Region is a leader in creating and preserving attainable homeownership opportunities for low-to-moderate income families in Lansing and the surrounding tri-county area, having sold 133 homes to first-time homebuyers in the region, with two more homes currently under construction. The organization has also built over 900 accessibility ramps to assist community members with mobility challenges.
