Meet A Future Leader In Lansing-East Lansing: Jinyoung Jeong

The future of Lansing-East Lansing is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Jinyoung Jeong, who are making a positive impact in and around Lansing-East Lansing.

Jinyoung Jeong, a 2022 graduate of East Lansing High School, is a multifaceted leader excelling in academics, music, and science. As a senior, she was named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist and served as president of the ELHS Science Olympiad Club, where she placed 7th in Protein Modeling and 8th in Anatomy & Physiology at the 2021 Michigan State Tournament. Jinyoung also participated in the Physicists Inspiring the Next Generation program, contributing to nuclear physics research at Michigan State University’s Facility of Rare Isotope Beams and to the TARDIS-SN open-source astrophysics software as a member of the American Physical Society.

In addition to her academic achievements, Jinyoung is a talented violinist with a passion for sharing music. She began playing the violin at the age of five and went on to become the concertmaster of the ELHS Symphonic Orchestra, Encore Strings, and the Mid-Michigan Youth Symphony. Her musical accolades include performing as concertmaster of the Ravel String Orchestra at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and being selected for the MSBOA All-State Orchestra during her junior year.

During high school, Jinyoung was involved in the National Honor Society, varsity swim team, Pit Orchestra, and PING program. She also founded Vivace Strings, a volunteer group she leads to bring music to the community.
Whether leading in science, music, or service, Jinyoung exemplifies a commitment to excellence, creativity, and making a meaningful impact.
