Creative Christmas displays fill the Turner Dodge house for the annual Festival of Trees (wilx.com) — Lansing residents can explore dozens of wildly creative Christmas tree displays at the historic Turner-Dodge House during the annual Festival of Trees, open daily from noon to 5 p.m. through New Year’s Eve. With entries from local businesses, groups, and neighbors—and $5 admission at the door—it’s an easy, family-friendly way to enjoy holiday art close to home.
   

2. Bills signed to lower costs for Michigan Guard members (dailypress.net) — From Lansing, state leaders just approved new laws cutting health and child care costs for Michigan National Guard members and their families, including those in the Lansing area. The bills create a Tricare premium reimbursement program, add child care assistance during drills and training, and shift unused tuition funds into a broader Guard benefits fund.
   

3. East Lansing police investigate overnight homicide at Arbor Glen Apartments (wilx.com) — Police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting at Arbor Glen Apartments in East Lansing, near the W. Lake Lansing and Abbot intersection by Michigan State University. A man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators say the attack was not random. A person of interest is being interviewed, with state police crime scene experts from Lansing assisting.
   

4. Michigan adds 9,000+ COVID-19 cases over the weekend (wlns.com) — Michigan, reported from Lansing, has added more than 9,000 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend as a second wave drives record daily counts. State officials are rolling out the MI COVID Alert exposure-notification app, already piloted in Ingham County and at MSU, to help residents quietly learn about possible exposures and slow community spread.
   

5. Lions fall to Rams 41-34 as playoff hopes dwindle (wlns.com) — Lansing football fans saw the Detroit Lions’ playoff chances take a hit after a 41-34 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, despite leading at halftime. With other NFC contenders winning, Detroit now sits at 8-6 and outside the final wild card spot with just three games left.
