Here are the top three stories today in Lansing-East Lansing:
- The East Lansing Independent Police Oversight Commission is set to review the Apr. 25 shooting involving two East Lansing Police Department officers. During the shooting, the officers fired eight shots toward a suspect, DeAnthony VanAtten, while responding to reports of a man with a gun at a store. VanAtten was hit in the leg with two of the shots and was treated at Sparrow Hospital before being taken to the Ingham County Jail. The two officers, Jose Viera and Jim Menser, were cleared of any charges related to the shooting by Attorney General Dana Nessel. (FOX 47 News Lansing - Jackson)
- CATA will be altering its bus service due to the end of spring semester at Michigan State University. The summer service changes include the suspensions of all on-campus bus services and a decrease of route one and routes 22 through 26 services; route 1’s services will continue as normal on the late-night weekend. (WILX)
- Mid-Michigan authorities are searching for information leading to the arrest of three men who are wanted for various crimes. Lansing police are searching for Demarcus Johnquez Smith, 26, for failing to report to parole; Juan Jose Lopez Jr., 47, for assault with a dangerous weapon; and Anthony Ray Rathburn, 37, for a drug offense. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the men, contact Crime Stoppers of Mid-Michigan at (517) 483-STOP. (WLNS)
