- Over the past several weeks, locals have heard that many of their favorite restaurants are closing their doors, and most recently, the public is learning that Arcadia Smokehouse on the east side of Lansing has quietly closed. The smokehouse and brewery took over a former PNC Bank back in 2018 and was able to battle its way through the pandemic, but it appears that business slowed down enough for the restaurant owners to sell the building, and "available" lease signs have appeared in the window. It is unclear when the restaurant did officially close as there were not many updates on the restaurant's website or social media, but a Reddit post on Apr. 29 indicates that it was closed at that time. - Starting this Friday, the long-awaited Summer Solstice Jazz Fest is back in East Lansing for a few days of soulful music and high energy. The festival returns with several live performances throughout East Lansing with performances from REDWOOD, the jazz alliance of the mid-Michigan scholarship band, and many more. On Friday and Saturday, members of the community are encouraged to come out to the Afterglow performances from 10:00 p.m. to midnight at the Graduate Hotels Rock Bar. (WLNS)
- For the first time in Lansing's history, there will be an Olive Burger Festival for foodies to gather downtown and enjoy delicious olive burgers from the local restaurants in the city. At the festival this Saturday, Jun. 24, there will be live music, games, a bounce house for children, drinks, and of course olive burgers that you can sample with the purchase of food tickets. Admission for the festival is $5, $20 for a food ticket that includes 10 food tickets, and children under five get in for free. The festival will be taking place where the Lugnuts play baseball right at Jackson Field. (WKZO)
