- East Lansing Public Schools closed all school campuses on Wednesday after school officials were alerted to a threatening social media post that had been made overnight. The message said "east lansing better be ready, just got this [expletive] delivered today" posted with a picture of a gun; it had been sent to someone in Texas who then emailed school officials to let them know. School officials and the East Lansing Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident as of the time of his writing. (WILX)
- The East Lansing City Council chose the Michigan Municipal League (MML) to lead the search for East Lansing's city manager during the council's meeting on Tuesday. The council was expected to only discuss potential options for a firm to lead the search during its meeting. However, the members chose to vote after receiving support for the choice of MML from Mayor Pro Tem Jessy Gregg. (East Lansing Info)
- Lansing officials and community members are requesting solutions to deal with the fluctuating number of red-tagged buildings in the city. Council members said they were unable to get an acceptable or clear answer about what to do with these buildings and properties during the Public Safety Committee meeting. One option that officials are considering is ticketing landlords instead of residents of red-tagged properties, as long as the resident is unaware of the property's status. (WLNS)
